Maximize the gleam of your grin with the latest in whitening options. Veneering and bonding are procedures that deliver permanent whitening. How is it done? Less than one millimetre of the enamel on the outer surface of the tooth is removed before a veneer is applied. Porcelain is applied for veneering, while acrylic is used for bonding. Porcelain is the more colour stable and durable of the two materials. Bonding and veneering require one or two trips to the dentist, depending on the number of teeth being treated. Discomfort is minimal, and the results are immediate. Caps, also called crowns, are a popular option for people with chronic stains and/or broken teeth. A dentist reduces the tooth's surface on all sides, and then encompasses it with a porcelain cap, The advantages are better tooth allignment and permanent, dynamite whitening, but the procedure, which cannot be reversed, requires several trips to the dentist. Costs vary. Laser whitening is the most time efficient treatment. A dentist puts hydrogen peroxide gel on the teeth, then uses a laser light to activate the chemical. It takes less than 2 hours in the chair. When lasers first came on the scene, they screated too much heat for the teeth, so the treatment was painful. People tend to go for the laser if the're in a hurry. Bleaching is another option. There are two kinds of bleaching kits. One is found on drugstor shelves. The other is dispensed by dental professionals, who charge quit a bit of money for the bleaching agent and vinyl trays that are created from a mould of your teeth, like a retainer. The professionally fitted trays are taken home and worn for 30 minutes, twice a day, for two weeks or longer. Carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide are the key bleaching chemicals. Touch ups are recommended every six months, at which point you will need to spend a little bit more money to replenish your supply of bleaching agents. A selection of kits ar
e also available at drugstores. They contain a whitening gel, an accelerator, whitening toothpaste, oral rinse, a tooth shade guide and a generic sized tray to insert into the mouth. The gel goes into the moulded tray, which is worn for varying amounts of time depending on the kit. The kits are available with or without hydrogen peroxide. There are also many non-clinical options for a more dazzling smile. Toothpastes, chewing gums, polishes, mouth rinses and dental flosses and tapes with extra whitening agents are all widely available. They are perfect for people like myself who want a little colour boost, as opposed to a permanent rewhitening. And their prices are right. Active ingredients such as baking soda, sodium and hydrated silica are all safe for regular at home use. Their main benefit is that they polish away surface stains. Another popular ingredient in these products, titanium dioxide, gonds loosely to tooth enamel for a temporary whitening effect.

- 10/08/02 I have a teeth whitening business proposition for a qualified dentist in the Sheffield area.
I have access to small shop front premises in centre of sheffield. I would like to propose it be used as a teeth whitening centre, nothing else.
Require dentist to provide the equipment needed and do the teeth whitening . I'll provide the marketing and location, plus receptionist and ensure as many customers as you can handle daily. Only room for 1 dentist though due to cubic feet constraints.
We split income 50/50.
Premises is ready for immediate occupation.
Just an outside sign and sales literature, with advertising required, which i can provide immediately.
Exc ellent opportunity for young dental entrepreneur. My enquiries indicate huge potential, no other prominent teeth whitening facility in the centre of sheffield.
email me if genuinely interested

- 24/09/01 From what I know the whitening toothpastes that polish your teeth can be quite damaging, so I wouldn't use them. |
