Advantages: none for me
Disadvantages: did not work
I would say that nearly everyone has experienced getting bitten by some sort of insect before, and those that have, know just how damm painful it can be. Well I used to live in London until recently, and had never been bitten before, but since moving to the country I have suffered terribly. I have noticed that all opinions on this product have been good, unfortunately mine has nothing good to say about it, although I only used the tablet form and have not tried the cream. Last summer was worse than the first year, I don’t know what sort of insects keep biting me and still don’t. I had bites on my arms and legs, which were very red and itchy and caused terrible swellings, my legs, were so painful that I had trouble walking. I went to my local chemist to see if they could recommend anything. I was advised to purchase Piriton allergy tablets, which the pharmacist suggested for quick relief. I got home and decided to take a tablet straight away, four hours later I took another one and then another. In this time I felt no relief what so ever. The next day I took more every four hours and still nothing happened. These tablets are supposed to be for fast relief from nettle rash, heat rash, prickly heat or dermatitis, reactions to food, reactions to medicines or insect bites and hayfever symptoms. They are small yellow tablets, which are very easy to swallow. Each tablet is only 4mg and you can take up to 24 mg in one day. They are suitable for children over six years old, but the only half a tablet should be given. There is a warning on the packet that states these pills could make you feel drowsy and if affected you should not drive or operate machinery. I was not affected with any drowsiness and although I know every one is different, I can honestly say that I found these tablets to be absolutely useless. I paid £2.85 for the packet that contains 30 tablets and I really wish I hadn’t bothered, as they wer
e a complete waste of money. I certainly would not recommend them; but then again they might work on some people, so maybe you shouldn’t be put off trying them. I must be one in a million that these tablets don't work on and would love to know if any one else has had the same experience. Thanks for reading bye Cinystar

- 18/03/02 I don't get bad reactions to stings, so I ususally just stick calamine lotion on, but I do use Piriton for hay fever, and find it very effective indeed. |

- 18/03/02 I was actually warned that those things have really bad side effects, so I haven't tried them. |
