Express Review on Piriton in general
by E - written on 26/10/06
Rating:

Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to Pirotin. I had used a face cream - for sensitive skin! - to which I had a bad reaction - face very swollen, dry, itchy etc. My doctor suggested over the counter Pirotin. Unfortunately not long after I took it I felt sick, very dizzy and blacked out. The doctor then prescribed an antibiotic. I guess it isn't suitable for everyone.

I would say that nearly everyone has experienced getting bitten by some sort of insect before, and those that have, know just how damm painful it can be. Well I used to live in London until recently, and had never been bitten before, but since moving to the country I have suffered terribly. I have noticed that all opinions on this ...  Read the complete review

Piriton (generic name Chlorpheniramine) has been around nearly as long as me, and is used in a wide range of allergy related conditions including hayfever and allergic swellings, as well as being brilliant at stopping itching associated with eczema and other skin allergies. It is also used in hospitals to treat anaphylaxis shock. It is a ...  Read the complete review

For several years now I seem to have suffered from an allergy. Each morning I wake up, sneeze, sneeze again, then some more. That’s me off and running. Well either my nose will run or it will be blocked up. Why I have this allergy or what causes it – dunno! I suspected it may be one of those dust mite allergies and in fact it probably ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Piriton in general: Stops itching but be careful with this! (127 words)
by - written on 04/11/00 (Very useful, 200 readings)
Rating:

I have used Piriton tablets and syrup in the past to relief the itching that comes with a slight allergy to the sun. I took a couple of doses and they worked well but I also had a bad cough at the time. This was totally unconnected to the allergy. The next morning I had a 'hard,' rasping cough and my chest was very sore. ...  Read the complete review

I first came across Piriton (I always thought it was Pirotin) aged 15, on a camping trip in Wales mid-summer, after I came down with a distressing case of prickly heat. I spent the best part of three days under a cold shower at a swimming pool, before someone handed me a packet of Piriton, which gave me relief from itching after about half an ...  Read the complete review

I suffer with allgergies and for a number of years I have been using Piriton to combat it. I went in Boots to stock up on some more and the pharmisist asked if I had tried Boots own antihisamine tablets as they are very simliar to Piriton. I gave them a go and they work just as well but they are half the price. They are fast acting and have ...  Read the complete review

Piriton is no doubt a good basic remedy for allergic reactions such as hives or allergic rhinitis (sneezing) but it isn't the only poassible solution. I took piriton throughout one of my pregnancies because I developed severe allergic rhinitis, but could only take it at night because of the drowsiness it caused. I also have taken it ...  Read the complete review

My 3 year old has just had chicken pox, with this she was forever scratching and getting very upset because the itchy spots would not go away. My daughter suffers from time to time with severe Urticaria ( rare allergic reaction) to what we don't yet know but it has been bad enough to hospitalise her a few times, she still gets it now and it completely covers her body literally from head to toe. I use Piriton Syrup, for my whole family, for relief from itches. I find it extremely important in summer when there is a high risk of being bitten by insects and of course stung by Bees and Wasps. You don’t normally realise that it has taken affect, until you start itching again, so it must have. I have a mild allergy to the sun. When I ...  Read the complete review
