Post traumatic stress syndrome is a condition that a person can get after a shocking incident has occured. This could be an accident or experiencing a shocking series of events. Soldiers who returning from combat are at high risk of getting this.

It is a form of shock which effects the body's emotions. The symtoms can vary but the most common are;

Nightmares
Depression
Insomnia
Headaches
Mood swings
Lack of appetite
Lack of inspiration
aches and pains
panic attacks
palpatations
shakes

A sufferer may not develop all the symtoms and the severity varies from person to person.

Treatment;

Well when my husband suffered this he was refered to a counceller to talk over his worries and fears and after a time he came to terms with his accident and made a full recovery. Some people need medication to help the symptoms and to also calm them down. Anti-depressents can be prescribed in extreame cases.

The important thing about this condition is getting help early enough to prevent long term depression and to stop other problems from occurring.
