Reflexology is acupressure of the foot. On our feet are the endings of the meridians or energy channels that run through our bodies.
On the soles of our feet, there is almost an invisible map that corresponds to the certain areas and organs of the body, starting with the toes which is our head area and so on down. By pressing, massaging or manipulating that point on the foot that corresponds to that part on the body the reflexologist can then begin to unblock the energy channel which can then help the patient back to better health.
Where there is any tenderness in the foot, it usually means that there is imbalance in that body part, so careful manipulation may need to take place. Sometimes it is just too tender to be touched.
Reflexology gives a whole new meaning to my feet are killing me!
