Advantages: feel good treatment

Disadvantages: none

I have to say that reflexology is quiet the nicest treatment I have ever had. It's a form of massage of the feet, where each part of the feet is said to correspond to a different part of the body.

My experience is that it is done in a low-lighted room, with low lights and soft wind chimey music. You take off your shoes and socks and lie on a bed covered in a warm rug, and you literally lie there while your feet are stroked, held, and massaged by the therapist. It is so relaxing, and you don?t feel at all self conscious about it!

The treatment lasts about an hour. The first treatment usually involves giving a medical history, and discussing any problems that you wish to be resolved. A good therapist will also find any problems as she explores your feet during the massage.

All parts of your feet will be covered during the massage, and each area can be soothed or stimulated as the medical condition, or body areas requires. The therapist may come across ?knotty? tense areas of the feet, which relate to a blockage in your bodys energy, and she feel this as a tender area. She will massage and smooth away this knot to correct the energy flow. You actually feel this area as being more sensitive than other areas of the feet.

When the treatment ends, you are given a glass of water to drink. I have usually left the treatment with a real spring in my step, with my feet feeling as light as a feather. The skin on your feet also feels incredibly soft. Over the next twenty four hours you usually find yourself especially tired and emotional, as the effects are found on your body.

I have complete faith in reflexology as an alternative therapy, and for me it has corrected a period of stress, and depression, without the use of medication. I also used it at a time when trying to get pregnant, as the massage can stimulate your ovaries and regul
ate your periods.

A quick remedy to bring out a cold, and get it over with much qui
cker is to stimulate the sides and tips of your toes, which relate to the sinuses.

My husband was initially sceptical of the improvements to my health, but now goes for a treatment to relieve his football injuries, from pulled muscles, hamstring injuries, bad shoulders, tight hips, and it works every time! I also have a friend who had her tennis elbow cured, her crippling migranes reduced from several a week, to a couple per month.

The only people who should not use it are pregnant women, as labour could be stimulated, but ist is a good treatemnt to use to 'get started' when overdue!
