Advantages: cheap, long lasting
Disadvantages: can be a bit clumpy
This is a new foray for me. I?m reviewing make up. I am one of those girls who really can not be bothered putting a full face of make up before I go out. I would prefer the extra quarter of an hour in bed. However I will wear make up for special occasions. Luckily my elder sister has a good make up box I can borrow but on Saturday I had to purchase mascara for a wedding I was going to the next day. I toddled down to Superdrug and selected a Rimmel Exaggerate full volume and curl brown black mascara. The purchase decision. I picked Rimmel as it is a brand I have used before and also because it was the cheapest band without being kids stuff. I really do not like make up. It confuses me and the going near posh make up counters. The mascara was on offer as well, an extra bonus so I paid 3.99 for it instead of 4.99. Rimmel is available in Superdrug and Boots and probably other chemists. I had a choice of waterproof or exaggerate. I was highly tempted to buy the waterproof stuff in case Emma and Ewan?s nuptials got the better of me and I ended up all panda eyed but then thought I would look better with fuller sexier lashes. What is Rimmel Exaggerate?? It is mascara that promises full volume and curl to your eye lashes so it opens your eyes wide and makes you look one hell of a foxy chick. The color range. I did not notice the full colour range but I would imagine you could get black brown and perhaps blue. How can I identify it? The packaging has changed a lot over the years. Rimmel used to look a bit cheap and nasty in cream and brown packaging but the product I bought looked sophisticated and space age in a streamline silver tube that contains 8ml of mascara. On opening it you have the normal little mascara brush. The contents and the application On opening the tube I am faced with a very dark brown liquid. It states that you should ?sweep up and out to their full
potentials. I did so. My lashes did look fuller and nicer but perhaps a bit clumpy in the middle but I am not sure if that was my technique or not. I had to powder under my lids just a bit as I had just a teensy trace of mascara there. The colour seemed just right. I am blond so a black one would look to harsh. This looked really nice. The test Well I new this was going to be a tough test. I had put the mascara on at 10 00in the morning. Would it stay on all day?? The answer is yes. All though am sure there was a little tear in my eye when the bride remerged looking like a little china doll in a beautiful dress and throughout the ceremony I was feeling very weepy. I did not get in until midnight an when I was taking off my make up there was still traces of my mascara on the tissue. It was also good as it is opthamilogoically tested so it did not irradiate my eyes at all. Would I buy it again?? Yes when I eventually get round to buying another mascara. It is a decent price, the colour was nice and it stayed put through a very emotional wedding

- 28/10/03 Fairly sure I've tried this one, but like almost all waterproof mascara, it still ends up leaving me a bit - smudged! I don't mind so much by the end of an evening, but by the end of a working day... urm, no! Started dying my eyelashes for daytime instead. |
