Advantages: None whatsoever!
Disadvantages: Pure embrassment
I am absolutely disgusted and ashamed of the advertising for sanitary products! For a start, water is not as thick as blood so why do they throw water over them? I personally do not want to see something that is personal to women splattered on the TV in front of men and our children. Has anyone ever seen a sanitary towel walking down the street or jumping around in front of them? Would you like to? Do we start jigging around and doing silly dances while we are menstrating? Are we contortionists? (as these pads that twist with you seem to think.) Men have no need for these products therefore they have no need to be shown them. Women will buy these products because they DO need them and know exactly where to get them from and will probably try a new product when one comes along. They can view the different products on the shelf but please TV advertisers....who the hell gives these ads the go ahead? There are more subtle ways to introduce a new sanitary product without waving them around, putting wet ones inside envelopes and sticking arms and legs on them! We don't want them!!!!

- 12/06/04 I agree, we live in a society which is terribly negative about menstruation. I got into reusable menstrual products a few years ago and the whole attitude is totally different, probably because they aren't commercialised in the same way (and they've saved me a fortune). Started off with sponges, tried cloth pads for a few years, finally settled on a Mooncup (silicone menstrual cup) and haven't looked back. It's changed my attitude towards my body as well, and definitely for the better. |

- 17/03/01 LOL....Am I the only one but have noticed that they always seem to advertise sanitary towel/tampons while I am in the middle of my dinner. The ads do wonders if you are on a diet. |
