... everybody enters into every day, similar if not the same as daydreaming. An example is when your are driving along in your car and your mind is elsewhere, you don't think about it but you continue to change gear and press the brake as necessary. This is a state of hypnosis. Put basically, you are on autopilot, you don't need to think about it because you've trained your subconscious to do it automatically by the use of auto-suggestion (self suggestion). In hypnosis you use suggestive techniques repeatedly, the more ti...more

Premium Review Self-Hypnosis: Hypnosis (859 words)
by - written on 03/02/08 (Very useful, 25 readings)
Rating:

Despite what you may think, hypnosis is not sleep though the word 'hypnosis' is derived from 'hypnos', the greek god of sleep and is therefore rather misleading. Most people believe that whilst they are under hypnosis that they drift off into some kind of deep trance or dream like state and become unaware of what's going on and some people believe that they won't remember a thing afterwards. Some people also believe that the hypnotist is in control of them, which is not true. Whilst under hypnosis, the subject remains completely in control, aware of what is going on and would be respond faster than anyone else should an emergency arise. In effect, all ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review How To Hypnotise Yourself - For Health, Wealth & Happiness (1436 words)
by - written on 11/01/02 (Very useful, 1647 readings)
Rating:

I like to think, no I'll go further than that, I 'believe' that we are all in control of our own destiny. By this I mean that to a very large degree our health, wealth, happiness, good fortune and most of the things that happen in our lives are down to us. For instance, if I am poor, sick and sad or alternatively rich, healthy and happy it's because I have made myself so. I realise that it's easy to find an argument against this theory, that is okay by me. I'm not out to influence others, I'm just saying things as I have come to believe them. Many won't want to agree with what I have said because it is more comfortable to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Self-Hypnosis: Hypnosis to help improve sport performance (871 words)
by - written on 23/06/01 (Very useful, 122 readings)
Rating:

This is infact a very helpful way of improving athletic performance without virtually any extra effort. I studied this topic in great deal at uni, thus applying what i had learned to a real life situation. This was for part fulfilment of my degree...the dreaded 'dissertation'!!! Actually it all became rather fun, but i will spare you the boring details. Instead i am going to guide you on a tour of what hypnosis (or hypnotherapy) is all about, as well as how it could benefit you in a sporting situation. Although i have not given an opinion on a specific product....you should end up with a clearer picture of what to buy- if need be! Here goes :-)... ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Self-hypnosis..its free (300 words)
by - written on 23/10/00 (Very useful, 177 readings)
Rating:

This therapy is so easy to learn and can be used for anything from relaxation, stopping smoking and stress, to insomnia and migraine. It has varying degrees of success depending on your own mental and physical state. If you really want it to help you, then it can. You may not get results the first time but if you keep trying you will be suprised. If you have physical or organic problems self-hypnosis will not cure the under lieing problems but it may give some relief. Here's how: Sit comfortably,( or lie down, only if you want to sleep after treatment.) Focus your eyes on a spot on the ceiling. Tell yourself that your eyelids are ...  Read the complete review
