Advantages: Makes skin feel great, Does what it says

Disadvantages: Expensive, Hard to find

Like the ever-intrepid Internet user that we people here on DoYoo are you will no doubt know that freebies are in abundance around the web. The one thing that seems to be in more supply than most is samples of beauty type products such as skin moisturisers and the like, even more amazing is that there are lots of samples for men as well as woman. This is where my opinion is coming from today.

The two samples I will eventually get around to talking about came through the post for free, although I cannot remember where I signed up for the free samples. I got the samples through twice for some reason; well I was not going to complain.

~ So what is Simple Skin Defence for Men ~

To explain this I will break down the product range.

?Simple? is the main brand that Accantia Health and Beauty Ltd, originally the range was solely to towards the female market. The other brand that the company produce is Lil-lets (I think the most of the female readers should recognise this name).

?Simple Skin Defence (for Men)? is a fairly new product range and is for the male market.

~ Note ~

As you will have no doubt noticed, this opinion is in the category for the brand ?Simple?, I found this was most appropriate for this opinion as it is free samples I am going to talk about so does not reflect the product overall that is available in all good beauty product selling stores. From here on in I will comment on the two free samples individually under each heading then at the end all the other information that is general to both products.

~ The products ~

The two samples were:

Face Wash ? This is for use before you shave, you spread a small amount around the face and neck, this turns into a very thin layer of foam and should be rubbed into the face thoroughly. It is supposed to stop irritation during shaving and leave the skin smoother.

Post Shave Balm ? As the name suggests this is for use after
the shave. It says it soothes the skin and protects skin against ?modern day life?. It is applied in the same as the ?Face wash?.

~ What was the product like and did it do the job ~

Face Wash ? This is a clear gel type substance and most closely I could describe it as smelling faintly of aniseed. I found only a small blob was needed. When applied I found it?s effects immediately active. In some way it appears to very lightly numb the surface of the skin and also helps to clear your head when you inhale smell. After I had washed this off and used my normal shaving foam to shave with I found it helped reduce the feeling of the razor blade by about two thirds and felt refreshed throughout. All in all I found this did exactly what it said on the packaging. The sachet contains 4ml of the product.

Post Shave Balm ? This is white gel like substance. It smells like odourless products smell (you know what I mean, has a smell when claimed to be odourless). It is applied in the same way as the balm and I found that the product did moisturise the skin as claimed. One thing that I think it did fail on is relieving any irritation after the shave although irritation had already been reduced as a result of the pre shave balm. Again the sachet contains 4ml of the balm.

~ Packaging ~

As a general thing, both the free samples came loosely in an envelope through the post. Each of the samples came in a paper pocket in which there foil sachets were contained. You get into the sachet by ripping open at the nick in the foil sachet to remove the top.

Face Wash ? Both the pocket and sachet were green and silver in colour with the ?Simple? logo on the top and the name of the product (face wash) in blue text. On the reverse of the pocket there is a picture of the product range (more further down) and a general description of the range. On the reverse of the sachet is what the product is supposed to do as well as the ingredients in the produ
ct and the ?Accantia? logo with ?Not for resale? on the bottom. All this is in green and silver text.

Post Shave Balm ? Again both the sachet and pocket shared the colour scheme. This time the colour scheme was entirely silver with blue text yet again and a picture of the product range plus description on the reverse. On the reverse of the sachet in silver and green text is the same information as above, ingredients, logo, directions for use and what the product does.

~ Other useful information ~

These items as well as the other products in the range are made in the EU by:

The two products reviewed are part of a range of eight products for the face, included are the prices in Boots (www.wellbeing.com):

Face Wash (£4.49)
Face Scrub (£4.49)
Shave Gel (£3.49)
Rich Shave Foam (£2.75)
Post Shave Balm (£5.49)
Intensive Moisture (£6.25)
Revitalising Tonic (N/A*)
Nick Heal (£4.49)

*At all the places I tried this was not in stock so no price from anywhere is available, will update if information comes to hand.

For those of you interested there is a website available at:

www.simpleskindefence.com

A great interactive site that you can find free samples (although I swear this wasn?t where I got my free samples from) and download a free sports ticker (what ever one of those is?) amongst many others. There is also a comic strip you can follow starring some faceless people (lets hope that isn?t the effects of Simple).

www.wellbeing.com

Boots online shop but watch out, every thing is a bit expensive here.

www.tesco.com

This is Tesco?s online store where I found things were a bit cheaper than Boots.

~ Overall verdict ~

From the products I have had and used samples of this range seems promising, the Face Wash and Post Shave Balm are defiantly worth buying i
n there full retail sizes and I might just go and give some of the products a try later on, if you can find samples or buy the full products I would defiantly recommend the two products at least, for the woman out there who have not tried the female range of soaps, etc in the Simple range then I would imagine these are worth a try. These products are from the more expensive end of the market so this is why I have given this four stars, other than that they seem to good products.

Thanks very much for reading.

Sounds as though the products are good, but yes, a bit on the expensive side.
