When I was young child aged about 5 or 6 I used to sleep walk most nights, I dont really remember much about it, only what I have been told by my mother and sister. I had a very unsettled childhood as my parents had split and I missed my father terribly, I wasn't very close to my mother and life generally was not good for me at that time, I know sleepwalking can be caused by stress, anxiety or psycological factors as I have since looked into it so I think this was a main factor in my case. When I was about 13 years old I started to sleepwalk well according to my parents anyway and on one particular night I had been in bed for about 3 hours and my parents had sat down to watch the TV in peace but at about midnight I came strolling into the living room and dispite my mum asking me what I was doing up I proceded to walk over to the electric fire and pee right there narrowly missing the ... Because two of my daughters suffer from this – not that they often suffer, as such, it’s usually me that has to get up and deal with them! My ex-husband also walked and talked in his sleep too. I think he was quite an extreme case. He was especially bad if he had got drunk, the alcohol seemed to make him higher than any drugs would have. He seemed on a totally different planet at times! He was full of cautionary tales of horrendous things he had done while asleep. I think the worst one was when he went over to his record player in the middle of the ... Read the complete review

One of the first thing that visitors to our home remark on - apart from the mess, that is - is that despite not having any children, we have a lot of stairgates. The one at the top of the stairs is particularly sturdy, since I live with a sleepwalker. Somnambulism. Noctambulation. Nocturnal Perambulation. Or simply Sleepwalking. Call it what you will. It is defined as "walking about and performing other actions in a semiautomatic way during sleep without later memory of doing so" (Bantam Medical Dictionary). Anyone who has actually met my husband might feel that this is a defnition which could just as easily be applied to his waking hours, but it ... Read the complete review
