Newest Review: ... I together with a host of other commuters, was stuck for 2 hours on this non-moving train with forks of lightning striking the fields all around us, some uncomfortably close. When I eventually arrived home, I was a quivering, nervous wreck. Later in the 1980s we had a few more thunderstorm-free summers, and my phobia once again slid to the back of my mind. From then until the last 3 years, ... more

... I did manage to cope during any storms we had - terrorised by them, but able to hang on in there - then in 2006 I moved into a park/mobile home, which has in all ways been one of the best things I've done in my life; but, since I've been here and parti...more

I find this quite an awkward subject to write about, though I have suffered with arachnophobia previously to quite an extent. I wouldn't say that I was completely over the phobia though. This actually seems to be one of the most common of phobias, along with chlostrophobia and agoraphobia. It seems that most people are not afraid of smaller spiders but are scared of bigger ones, as was in my case. From my learning and interest in hypnosis, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and the like, I discovered that this is because in our minds we define the memories of these spiders as bigger, clearer more defined images. Some phobias can also be introduced by ...  Read the complete review
