Advantages: Gorgeous Colours, Fashion Conscious - but wearable (not a contradiction in terms!), Quality
Disadvantages: Only available on mail order, Too pricey for some
Have become a bit of an addict of said company. Dont like to admit it but nail varnish collection has just had its 15th member and I dont think that lipglaze is staying on the shelf for long. The nice thing about Stila is hard to pin down in one word. I first discovered the range when I was moving home to Wales from London and did my final pilgrimage to (surely the mecca of make-up) Space NK in Covent Garden's Neals Yard. The cool (in all senses of the word) apothecary is a haven of silvery bottles, rainbow colours and pricey but heavenly lines. Stila stood out amongst all of them however as it shuns minimal packaging in favour of delicate, feminine floral bottles, gingham eyeshadow lids and girly colours. I was hooked. As a bit of a poseur - o come on, at least I admit it!! - the "cool" value of having a mascara that your friends may have heard of but not own is a key factor for purchasing. Most products that fall into this catagory - particulary if they are hard to get hold of - tend to cost an arm and a leg. Stila retains this exclusivity without being THAT expensive. Its an American brand, created by make-up artist Jeanne Lobell, and updates its packaging and colours frequently to reflect fashion. And not more than £10 for a bottle of nail varnish. Cant say fairer (of face!) than that. Well worth checking out is stilas official website as well - www.stila.com There are fashion stories and groovy graphics and a very quick transatlantic beauty consultancy where a trained advisor will answer your beauty queries. One of my current faves.

- 15/05/01 Good op, but I went to www.stila.com and was disappointed to find some web hosting crap instead of a site full of shiny make-up - check the link! |
