Advantages: none to stretch marks
Disadvantages: silvery lines
unfortunately for us women when we decide we want to have a baby we realy do have to take the rough with the smooth as far as pregnancy goes,
my worst fear was stretch marks, i had seen them on other women and thought they looked very unsightly, i wanted to do everything i could to avoid them,
Having never even heard of bio oil when my first child was born i had every day used a very greasy moisturiser to reduce the risk of stretch marks as this would help the skin to stretch easier with out it getting damaged.
It did work and so did the bio il with my second child and wholst i ended up with less stretch marks than i have seen on frinds of mine i didnt escape completely and have a few on the bottom of my stomach and under neith of my breasts.
To begin with stretch marks are quite dark, dont panic, mine were a pink colour but i have seen them on my sister in law dark enough to be a purple, they fade with time to leave a silvery line like a slug leaves behind and are barely noticable but dont expect this to happen over night, mine took around two years to fade this much.
It is a bad part to having children but so worth it, if not i must be mad as i am about to go through it all again.
Summary: when you look at your stretch marks think of your baby and you will smile
