During my early twenties I went through a phase of doing lots of silly things, one of the most stupid, was regularly having unprotected sex.

I can remember the terrified feeling, when I thought I had caught something terrible. Little beknown to me, the redness, soreness and funny itch was nothing more dangerous than Thrush. However I held back from going to the Dr, because of all the horror stories about little umbrellas being pushed down little fella's "throat", and being opened and pulled back out! Yikes!!

However, it's all a Myth!, and any health check is relatively painless, and very easy. After the itch became intolerable I went to visit my GP, who after a few tests told me it was only Thrush.

The point of me saying this, is that actually Yeast infections such as Thrush are not really STI's (Sexually Transmitted Infections) at all, as is commonly thought by those who don't know, but can be caught/contracted by anyone! at anytime!

An in my case, as I am un-circumised chances are it was contracted naturally anyway, rather than from a "partner". However my lesson was learned, and I was careful from that day forth!

I have to admit that prior to that episode, I was totally ignorant to what Thrush was, I thought it was just a garden bird, or something women wanted Live Yoghurt for. When actually it is quite common amongst men.

Fortunately it is very easily treated, by use of a cream, and in my case the very good advce of abstaining from any activity, and to dangle little fella in a salt water rinse. A few days later I (and he), were clear of any itch, and all was good-to-go again!

For some however, Thrush can be more serious, it can spread to the mouth ( yes, that way) and other areas, and in rare cases can lead to a very serious blood condition.

So my advice, if your a man and you have an itch, don't waste time and do visit your GP! An always practice safe sex!
