Advantages: great eye products
Disadvantages: less successful lip products
Since I first discovered Urban Decay in 2005, they have become on of my favourite cosmetics brands. I know they've been around before then and I did notice their make up counter in the shops around about 2002, but I never really bothered to try out any of their stuff. I was on a bit of a budget make up wise so, whilst I thought their eye shadows were vibrant and lovely, I thought I'd stick to less expensive brands (I used to use Maybelline, L'Oreal, Bourjois and any other reasonable brands).
I noticed a sales assistant wearing this glitter liner and another wearing the glitter sparsely all over her lid, I just had to ask what that stuff was, as I'd never seen it before. They told me it was from the new Urban Decay Christmas edition and I had to buy them right away. I bought the 3 glitter eye liners that came together as a set, the quality was awesome and I loved the different effects I could create with them. This was one of my first purchases and I just had to try more of their products.
Ever since then, I've been hooked on Urban Decay. My favourite products are: their primer potion (a must to keep eye shadow looking vibrant and fresh all day long), 24/7 eye and lip liners (these come in bold, beautiful shades and are waterproof, they really do stay on until you remove them with make up remover), all of their eye shadows (these come in different effects; glitter, matte, extra pigmented... these are superb quality, highly pigmented and come in over 40 shades).
Some of the items they sell, are in my opinion not as brilliant as the ones I've already named. (I guess that's the case with all brands really). Items I've tried but wouldn't buy again include their new lipsticks (quite sheer and tame and I hate the odd caramel scent), their lip gloss (it's OK but I've found much shinier, more vibrant and longer lasting ones) and I'm not too fussed about their cooling colour sticks.
I'd conclude that Urban Decay specialise more in eye colours and products, as not as many of their lip stuff have made it onto my list of products I would recommend.
Summary: this brand is awsome for vibrant eye colours
