Advantages: Stays where it's put!, *Funky*Funky*Funky*, 'Proper' colours!

Disadvantages: Some may think pricey, Addictive

Urban Decay, once exclusively the haunt of teenage goths trying to make a statement (I confess I was one once, and no detriment to 'em) now seems to have mellowed a little in it's old age. This is no bad thing I assure you, for whilst the range still has it's signature bold eyeshadows, liners, lipsticks and gunks, more and more colours are being introduced to appeal to a wider market.

Personally, I have invested in the lip gunk, liquid eye-liner, mascara and eyeshadow. Although I should point out they are a little more expensive than your average brands, you get what you pay for. These products are not by any standards, average. You will be forking out about £11 for a liquid liner and £10 for a tube of lip gunk.

I have to admit, initially the price made me shudder, but after hearing so many good things about the range (and the offer of 500 points on my advantage card in Boots!) I decided to splash out. Yes, these things make me happy. In particular I have to mention the liquid eye-liner: I now own more than I should, but it is truly amazing. I used to run away crying hysterically at the mere sight of these things, but the colours in the Urban Decay range were too good to pass up so, trembling, I handed over my card and bought a gorgeous grey/silver/black ('Spare Change' if you want to know). The applicator is not a fat felt tip like most, but a short, soft brush, narrow enough to define and easier to control than many others I've tried. All the liquid liners double as eye colour or body art, so if you make a mistake just rub it in, and although once applied, it bloody stays, the remarkable thing is that it comes off easily with a remover! Truly a miracle hast come upon us ladies (or men)! Well, not quite on the scale of world peace, but you get my point. Panda eyes no more!

The lip gunk doesn't stay quite as well, but as a gloss is fine. I tend to stick to the glittery shiny ones and wear them over lippy, but I
have heard the more solid colours are also excellent. Added bonus: they smell good! Taste alright too but don't go eating a tube for a mid-morning snack or anything.
The eyeshadows stay on almost as long as the liner and can be dusted over for a subtle look or applied a little thicker for a striking look. I managed to pick up a mascara to match one of my liners ('Roach') at a bargain half price, they curl, lengthen, thicken and colour though I have it on fairly good authority that the mascaras to match the liners are being discontinued, and the core line (about four basic mascaras) are staying/replacing.

The packaging looks really good and the range is definitely aimed at the 20 something market, and the occasional discerning (and loaded) teenager, but the colours will suit anyone. As I mentioned before, they do seem to be bringing a few less outlandish colours into the range, but even though they are a little subtler than the rest, they still stand out against your average make-up...my 'brown' eyeliner and mascara aren't just brown, they are ~brown~! Proper colours! Does what it says on the tin! Even these 'ordinary' colours have that something extra. As an extra point, as it's says on the packaging: 'We don't do animal testing. How could anyone?'.

Overall, all the products are excellent quality, have fantastic staying power and come in amazing colours. And it looks so damn funky in your make-up bag.

I must be mad, but I think that they're reasonably priced. I don't think I'd put something on my eyelids that cost pennies - you just don't know what's in it.

I like their varnishes and I've got one of the compacts too

Nice review aimes. Ive bought a few of their 'subtler' eyeshadows in the past and found that because the colours are so strong they last ages, so well worth that bit of extra cash.
