Advantages: Great Colours, Unusual Looks
Disadvantages: Expensive
Urban Decay... Possibly my second favourite brand of make up. Depending on my mood- sometimes it's my favourite. For every day, i'm a girlie "BeneFit" girl, but sometimes you need a bit of OOOMPH! While Benefit makes you look like a natural beauty, Urban Decay can create an edgy, mysterious, exciting, funky unnatural impact for even the most timid Tilly. What i own from this range: 1 Face Case. 1 Hot Box. 2 Lip Gunks. 2 Eye Shadows. 1 Liquid Eye Liner. 1 Lipstick If you count all the different contents of the Face Case and the Hot Box, you will come to the conclusion that i really do own quite a collection. Plus, Urban Decay is at the expensive end of make-up; so i would own more if i could... but i can't. *** Why i like Urban Decay *** The primary reason i like Urban Decay is because i'm not afraid to experiment with colour, and if there is one thing that Urban Decay does well, it's colour. All of the eye shadows are heavily pigmented, so even the a tiny layer of eye shadow will make it's mark. The range of colours available is fantastic, from glittery irredescent shades of blue and pink, to powerful dark colours such as purple or red. A heavy layer of eye colour creates a rock chic look, while a slight layer gives an unusual sheen. The funky colours available give the wearer instant impact, not for the faint hearted. The range of products is amazing- from skincare to make-up remover; the company covers it all. And with names like "Surreal skin Foundation" or "Triple Threat Shine Gloss" i'm sure you get the idea! Each of the colours has a crazy name such as "Asphyxia"(pinky-blue) "Bruise" (blue-purple) or "Gash" (Metallic Red.) "Stray Dog" is my favourite colour of lipstick! The staying power of this brand is fantastic, for all products except the Lipgunk, (in my opinion it fa
des too quickly.) Apply the Eye Shadow, or Body Haze in the morning and it still looks fresh by five in the evening, although Urban Decays's crazy metallic colours are more suited to night time activities! The colours are also highly blendable if you require a different shade.. so top marks. *** What you should invest in *** If you're a new user to this brand i would suggest you invest in either the face case, or the Hotbox. Both are particularly funky and retail at £20. My first purchase was the Face Case in "Pin Up" It comes with instructions on how to create a natural look using the contents, and for night time how to update it to look punky. The flat, handbag sized silver box comes with 4 eyeshadows, 2 lipsticks, 2 lipgunks and a Body Haze. Bearing in mind that each of these products would knock you back £10-£15 each, you've got a bargain there! However my favourite is the "HotBox" This handbag sized capsule is wonderful for nights out. It resembles a lighter, you flick back the lid to find a mini concealer and a mini mascara, and if you undo the clasp further it opens to reveal a mirror, lipstick and eyeshadow. I used all but one of my eyeshadow colours in the Facecase (sparkly olive just wasn't me) so it was complete value for money. The Lipstick is also worth purchasing- it lasts like no other i've tried. *** What i wouldn't bother with again *** I felt the liquid eye-liner was difficult to control and just too bright, plus the shade i bought was awful! Although the Lipgunk is terrific gloss and colour wise, it just doesn't have the staying power of other brands... bit of a shame really, as i love it. If you're after the natural look, this isn't the brand for you! But since i'm no wall-flower, it suits me! *** Does it look Good? *** The packaging is terrific. It looks great on dressing table
s and in handbags. One small qualm though, is that it is all very "same-ish" you can easily mistake the lipgunk for the eyeliner, as the shapes and sizes and branding are identical. But that really is just a small problem. Oh and contrary to some people's beliefs... It's not just for goths! (Although it'd be a great investment if you were goth) *** Where to buy it *** Boots, and Debenhams sell it at concessions in my town, but Urban Decay have a website in America <www.urbandecay.com> It's very good and tells you everything you might need to know. Also, for the record Urban Decay do not test on animals. I intend to invest in the honey flavoured body powders next! They sound like fun!
