Review of Vosene Original medicated shampoo

**The Product**

A shampoo from the past!
There are several variations of Vosene shampoo on the market, however my review will centre on the Original version of the product. The product is from the well known 'Wella' haircare group.
Vosene has been around for many years, in fact my mother always used it on my hair when I was a little girl, too many years ago to admit to!

I recently bought a bottle of Vosene shampoo in my local supermarket. The main reason for choosing this 250ml shampoo was that it was on a £1 special offer.
I should state here and now that I do not suffer from dandruff, although the Vosene original shampoo is designed to help combat this problem. Therefore I won't attempt to cover the product's efficiency at treating dandruff.

The shampoo is presented in a pale green recyclable plastic bottle with a darker green snap up lid. The design is very good, allowing users to dispense just the right amount of shampoo with little or no wastage.

The bottle bears the Vosene name in white set across a deep green tear-drop shape. User instructions, ingredients and other information such as shelf life (12 months) and manufacturer details on the reverse.

As soon as I opened the bottle and took a deep sniff, I recalled Vosene and it's distinctive coal tar-like scent from my childhood, the smell evoked many memories of our draughty bathroom and temperamental hot water system of my youth!

On using the shampoo I discovered the dark brownish colour of the rather gloopy textured shampoo was unchanged and that all encompassing aroma was still as strong. I was impressed at the lathering qualities of the shampoo and found I needed to use less than normal. Living in a very hard water area, it can sometimes be difficult to work up a decent head of lather. After using Vosene, my hair felt soft and squeaky clean. It was shiny and more manageable than usual.

The distinctive Vosene aroma lingered on my hair for several hours after washing and I appreciate the coal tar/creosote scent may not appeal to others, to me it smells clean and fresh.

**Availability and Price**

As stated at the beginning of the review, I bought mine on a special offer in Tesco's supermarket. Vosene is widely available and the price for the 250ml size is in the region of £1.40-£1.70 from most of the High Street stores and supermarkets. My advice is to shop around!

**Thoughts and Conclusion**
A good quality product which I love the smell of. Vosene will remain my shampoo of choice as long as I can find it on a special offer!
All in all I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a great medicated shampoo.
