Advantages: Good Products, Wide range, Not tested on animals
Disadvantages: expensive, expensive, expensive
I made the mistake of letting of seeing the advert for Yves Rocher in the back if a magazine. The bargains looked very good. And if you spent over £10 you got free delivery. Looking at the limited stock on the back page it was not too difficult to spend £10 to get the free posting and packaging. So off I sent and got a box full of stuff for £10. Brilliant I thought. Then another catalogue came through the door and scanned it. This time if I spent £22 I would get free postage packaging. Well I thought that might be a big more difficult. But no. As little 250ml bottles of bubble/shower gel where £3.50 it was easy to rack up £22 or more. So again I sent off. But this time. I did not have to pay for the goods for three months. Nearly every month was I was getting paper work from them about their special deals. Like buy one get one free. Get it for 50% off etc. I was now hooked. If I just spent £25 I would get not only get free delivery but also a free gift. Sucker or what. And it you reply with 10 days you get this special free gift like a beach towel or plastic drinking glasses (Well those are the two that I got free). Also every so often they would send these prize type things out. They gave you 8 little pieces of rolled up paper. If they matched number of on a piece of card them you won that prize. What a con. You could win a Xmas tree candle. A green vase. Which I still have and I am waiting for the right moment to give it away as a present to someone. Or maybe I could put it my bedroom as it has green wallpaper under the dado rail. I only had one big catalogue about once a year. But they would always send you mini catalogues every time they sent you an order form. They do have some lovely products and one of my all time fav perfume is from them. But it was just getting silly and costing me a fortune. An as I am now trying to be frugal and save a nice big deposit for my new house in a few years time.
Something had to give. And it was Yves Rocher that had to go. Their delivery was quick. It was about two weeks after the order. And their boxes where white with green writing all over them. The Delivery note was inside. They don't test on animals but their packaging could have been a little bit more environmentally friendly. As they use the white polystyrene chips. They may have changed as this was about a year or so ago that I stopped using them. Also if you introduce a friend who spends over a certain amount I think it is £20 you then get £25 voucher to spend. But as I said £25 will not go very far. Unless you use all your stickers for buy one get one free.

SusanLesley - 10.05.01 I always find it difficult not to be tempted by the special offers. I throw the things away now without looking at them!!! Susan |
