Carcraft of Sheffield: ... purchased a 2001 Volkswagon Golf Avantguard Cabriolet for £11500 from Carcraft last week. Firstly we went through to Sheffield on the 28/6 to look at a Renault Megane Cabriolet that we were told they had for sale. We got there and were told it had been sold the day before. (not a good start) We then saw the golf and decided to go for a test drive. The salesman had no idea about the car and could not get the top u...

... t even bother with Carcraft. We bought a car from there and were conned for a total of £6,000 for a car that we later found out was valued at only £3,000. The car was originally at up at £8,500 and we were given a so called "managers discretion" discount, yet still ended up paying twice the amount the car is valued at. We test drove a 406 that was up for £8,000 which was actually valued at £3,000. We also got conned out of £300 for an "extended warranty" as the original one "isn t very good" (their words). They take you in on the premise that it s all included, and when you sign to accept it they tell you it actually costs another £...

I know I paid 7,500 for a car worth 6,300 in A1 condition in any good car guide you care to mention. (I didn t know this at the time) Possibly the reasons for being overpriced is the showroom cars do look impressive and exciting when your first walk in... They sell on the basis that each car has 120 point check and 2 years free warranty... although arguably this isn t fr...

... old crate is falling apart. It s tax runs out tomorrow and its MOT is next month. I also need to think about getting a more economical motor. I have been shopping around lately, but last Saturday I though I would drive down my local Carcraft at Newport, Gwent. The ads they have in my local paper promise some very good deals, so I was quite happily driving down there and hoping to get something that was good value and reliable. As I entered I was greeted by a cheery salesman who explained the system to me, including that each car had a free 2 year warranty. I was left to wander around and look for a car that might take my fancy. I am fortunate that I occasionally chec...
