Disadvantages: Halfords, need i say, more?
Halfords, what a gathering of helpful souls who know arse about cars!!
The product i procured was a complete scratch reparir system, you got a little rubbibg sponge, a primer, a top coat and a little brush thing for £6, bonus i thought, i consult two different members of staff who told me, on inspection of my car, that this set was exactly what i needed. So i bought it, far too bloody trusting, and tried it. To be fair it worked well, well it would have done if it had been the correct bloody colour!!.
Following my initail grief i phoned my local dealer and gave him the colour code from the vin-plate of the car, he informed me of the exact colour and that he had little scratch kits for £3.55, for which you got the correct paint and a sealing laquer. So i brought this and it works an absolute treat!!
The moral is do not believe Halfords!!
And always check your VIN plate when it comes to your cars true colour.

- 21/07/02 The kit is intended to be used with the exact touch up paint for your car, the paint in the kit is meant to be a base coat primer. Yes, halford should have known this. |

- 11/06/01 Sorry to rate your op NU but this is not an op on Halfords this is a moan about a single incident. I would have thought that the only way to guarantee a colour match on a vehicle is to go direct to the manufacturer anyway |

- 11/06/01 Moral : Find out what your main has/how much before going to Halfords or any other supplier. Then you can compare prices. But always know what your colour code is/what your chassis number is/what your engine number is.
Even that may not save you. Mercedes wanted £280 for new front springs for my 190. Europarts wanted £50. Trouble was that they were too long, so i had to scrap them. Bought a set of lowered springs from Euro, and they are OK.
All cars and suplliers are bast**ds generally and know diddly squat.
Just open your wallet and say .."Help yourself". That is all they want from you. |
