Advantages: Strong, secure and durable, Easy to fit, Great company to deal with
Disadvantages: Lightboard wiring a bit long
Following the installation of a towbar onto my new Alfa Romeo I was looking for something a little kinder to carry my bicycles - a towbar mounted cycle carrier that wouldn't scratch the paintwork like my old strap-mounted carrier did.
Firstly, the cycle carrier needed to be capable of taking four cycles of varying sizes. It needed to be easy and quick to fit, simple to load-up and ideally have a lightboard system and locking kit available in the interests of legality and security. It also needed to be suitable for use when towing a caravan.
The plate that the carrier fits into was very simple to install between the towbar and the towball (The supplier was even able to supply the longer bolts that were needed) and fitting took around ten minutes. After the plate was installed, assembly of the carrier onto my car was very quick indeed and loading the cycles was easy after a little experimenting to find the best positions. The restraining straps supplied were simple to fit and very strong. Small rubber strips were supplied to protect the paintwork where the straps crossed-ove the panel edges. I also obtained the dedicated locking kit and the lightbaord kit (optional extras) as the shipping cost on these items was included in the delivered price of the cycle carrier!
The cycle carrier works very well with my (snakemaster) stabiliser in place and when the carrier is not mounted the plate is very neat and unobtrusive, actually lower than the top of the towball by about an inch.

To answer the comment about the lightboard wiring being a little long, I would like to make to following comment:
During development of the lightboard system we tested the lightboard on many vehicles and we could not find a cable length that we could be certain would be suitable for all vehicles. We therefore decided to leave the cable at a very generous length and include a pair of cable ties to tie-up any excess cable. This means that the cable supplied will ALWAYS be long enough and spare cable can be tied out of the way. A wiring colour code is also now included in the package if the customer decides they wish to permanently shorten the cable length to their own requirements.
