Advantages: Right ones for the job ,speed up the job
Disadvantages: Expensive
Tools used to be an essential part of anyone's maintenance on their cars. Many a fun packed Saturday afternoon was spent with myself under the car, covered in oil changing something or other. The thing is, moodern cars hardly ever need user input due to the high complexity of the engines. Would you like to attempt to fiddle with anytihng full of computerised mechanisms and circuits? My first car was always going wrong. Like I said above, I was forever fiddling with it. So as time went by,I was needing a lot of specialist tools for different jobs. My advice would be this. BY THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB. If you need to buy a tool to remove the wheel drums, DO IT! Dont attempt to take them apart with a hammer and chisel! It saves you a lot of money in the long run. I know from experience. Also, contrary to what someone else has written, get yourself a decent set of tools. The best you can afford. Im talking: Full set of screw drivers. A Full Socket Set, (Metric and Imperial) Stanley knife Rubber Hammer Claw Hammer Full set of spanners Box Spanner WD-40 These will be quite expensive but they will have many uses in all walks of life. Also, make sure you put them back in their right holes/slots/boxes because when you loose a certain size bit, you will be kicking yourself when you cant do the job. Using the wrong size socket or spanner will cause rounding of the heads and you will never get it undone. You will notice I have put WD-40 down. This is not really a tool but it is an essential piece in anyones box for undoing tight nuts and bolts. Most modern cars from the middle to high end of the market that may need small jobs doing on them come with a handy tool kit. This saves you a bit of money. The best make of tools I have come across are Snap-on. Snap On tools are used by the professionals
in the industry and are famous the world over for reliability and quality. They are even garaunteed for life. I have a lovely Ratchet Screw Driver with interchangeble bits for all types of screw. Its Bright Pink too! It is made by Snap on and it cost a horrifying £65 though! Still, its lasted for years. So there you go. If you want good tools, be prepared to pay for them and DONT try and make do with ill-fitting ones!
