I loathe the oscars. If I had an uncle oscar I'd strangle him with his own shoelaces. An opportunity rarely arises for a group of people to show their smarminess, pretention, inability to think of an interesting speech, back-stabbing two-facedness or general vulgarity.

As if the tackiness isn't bad enough, the success of the really quite ordinary film with the really quite shocking graphics and soundtrack, Gladiator, just goes to how irrelevant the results are.

I sometimes feel like dedicating my life to becoming a world famous actor and getting an oscar just so I could say something along these lines in my speech. But if there is anyone out there who is taking their first steps on the path to dramatic glory, I would urge them to follow my example and make their life a crusade against pretention and falseness.

Onwards the revolution,comrade.

You know if you expanded it a bit it would be very good - your style is amusing. Good luck, Kay
