Advantages: sense of motion, sound & picture quality, blow your mind, sheer size of screen
Disadvantages: choice of films
I know Imax has been around for a while, but it has just hit Glasgow For starters I did not know that only films shot with special film can be shown in Imax theatres, ie u don't see The Matrix in an Imax, which is a pity as the experience is awesome 12,000 watts of sound from massive speakers plus the sound comes thru tiny perforations in the screen, which by the way is 80 ft wide and 60ft high !! An employee of Imax introduced us to the experience which cost £5 each and lasted for < 1 hour. She warned that some may experience a little motion sickness...well it was wicked I watched Dolphins and I loved it, narrated by none other than Pierce Brosnan with music from Sting I can't wait to see Blue Planet, and both these are only 2D not even 3D Seemingly Imax films are shot with a special film that is 10 times larger than 35mm and the projection system operates in a vacuum to stop judder The result is a sound and picture clarity that you cannot imagine.....fantastic Just imagine watching The Matrix filmed in Imax....I wish Go check it out their website is http://www.imax.com and the Glasgow Imax which is part of the new Glasgow Science Centre is http://www.gsc.co.uk

phattedd - 13/02/01 great opinion. Keep it up. Easy to read and understanadable also. I've never seen an imax cinema but this is encouraging me to go to one. I live in Shropshire, do you know if there is one near me or not? Maybe you ain't that learned on the subject. |
