Advantages: good special effects

Disadvantages: not scary

Ok I'm on a mission and I need the help of all you dooyoo'ers (is that a word?). I'm trying to find a scary movie.

What is a scary movie, personally i have no idea. i'm still searching.

I have watch many films that are supposed to be the scariest but they fail to live up to my expectations. Films have made me jump but that is not quite the same thing. I would love to watch a film that scares me witless. The kind where you have to turn your house into Blackpool illuminations by turning on every light in the house, checking every room, under every bed and that the doors are securely locked.

Some of the films that I have watched include, Seven, Scream and its sequels, Thirteen ghosts, final destination, poltergeist, nightmare on elm street, Halloween and its sequels, Candyman, The Hole, to name but a few

I have to say I enjoyed all these films but they weren't in the least scary I find most of them funny and you can figure out who is going to die and what is going to happen next before it happens. The hole is a prime example of this.

Some of the problems with these films (seven especially) is that they think by filming them in semi darkness will add to the fear factor but it doesn't I just spend the film wishing they would turn the lights on like in the sloth scene.

Why does the killer always have to come back to life for one last attack? As in scream.
Why do people in films always do the most stupid things? if you hear a noise outside and your alone in the house after receiving dodgy phone calls, would you go outside and check, you wouldn't.

In thirteen ghosts the best bit was the concept of the house that was fantastic, imagine coming home and having to find a different route to the kitchen. The special effects were good but the basic storyline was rubbish. Not a bit scary, made me jump on occasion but that?s it.

Final destination is one of the funniest films I'
;ve seen in a long time. You may think I have a sick sense of humour, maybe I do. When the girl gets hit by the bus made me jump but it was funny or when the piece of metal comes up from the train track and the guy gets his head chopped off, the way the body falls over is hilarious. One major disappointment in this film is that Tony Todd, who is better known as the Candyman, has a very minor part in the film as a member of staff in a morgue. I wanted him to come back at the end and have been 'death', but he didn't. Major disappointment

Does putting the killer in a mask as in scream and Halloween make it more scary, no
What about, surprise, there are two killers as in scream, does that work, no

Too many films have major hype about them being the scariest film ever but they never deliver, when will one delivery if you know of any I need your suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
