Advantages: Sci-fi is the best

Throughout Hollywood history sci-fi has always been there and so have the freaky fans - some moreso than the films that they liked. They haven't been all bad but more often than not string-held plates just didn't cut it for scpecial effects. Today, the effects are very good unless they were done on a home PC but just take examples like the Matrix and you'll know how pivotal the role is of the modern day computer is in movie making.
