Hip Hop in general: ... I don t look like the typical hip hop fan, with my long black hair, stretched piercings and metal band T-Shirts, I do listen to it pretty often. But I find their is a problem with most kids listening to it. There are some, but not all, fans that just go with what s popular. They fail to recognise that, what in my opinion, is true hip hop isn t about shooting and drugs but unity and dealing with issues, the s...

pearlydewdrop Slowdive in general
... another of my shoegazing favourites, and a band who are said to have gained musical inspiration from the Cocteau Twins. From the first listen I was destined to like this band, and now Id like to share with you the magic of their dreamy music. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Formed in 1989, in Reading, Slowdive adopted a style akin to their predecessors, shoegazing artists the Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. The bands figureheads were Neil Halstead (guitars and vocals), a hugely talented musician with a mellow and distinctive voice, and Rachel Goswell (guitar and vocals) a slightly grungy bob-haired girl. Goswell had the ki...

pearlydewdrop Cocteau Twins in general
... love the Cocteau Twins, hence my username Pearlydewdrops -a title of one of their songs. Thats it, you will love them too, because there really isnt anything out there that sounds quite like they do....ok, maybe its not as straightforward as that. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- The Cocteau Twins entered my life at quite a poignant time, and perhaps this is some of the reason why I have a soft spot for their dreamy, emotionally charged music. I had met the love of my life, and was in awe of his knowledge of music and literature, and I admired his sophistication. I was 20, he was 28, and we fell for each other in a big, big way (so rom...

owensmum Madonna in general
... How it all started ~ I feel like I have to admit it. I am a Madonna fan. Have been since she burst onto the music scene in 1982 when I was 10 years old. I used to buy smash hits magazine and loved using their lyrics provided to sing along to the latest songs in the chart. This is how I discovered Madonna. The song Lucky Star was printed and I thought Ive heard this So of course when it next appeared on my radio I was armed with my song lyrics and I ve never looked back. Of course back then no-one knew I could sing and wanted to sing and loved to sing. This was my secret. So many a happy hour was spent in my bedroom singing along to my new friend. ~ The obsession be...
