2 Step/Garage in general ... Garage is in danger. Well thats how i see it. When it first came out it was fresh and funky - something that we as a young generation could say was our sound, was our soundtrack to our lifes not something that was given to us by older generations. As garage broke out in 1999 with tracks by Rosie Gaines etc making it to the UK Top 20 it became more and more commercial. Tunes by Shanks and Bigfoot and Oxide and Neutrino made garage known to the whole nation as these were the crossover tunes. Garage as a sound then believed it needed to cater to this new audience it had acquired while catering for the ones who had been loyal which explains the remixs of most pop tracks and... So Solid Crew in General ... SOLID RULE! They're difinetly the best garage band of the year and with only one album and a mix compilation out, theyre is just enough time to get in to them and follow them, as they release albums. They have had some great garage / r'n'b tunes out so far this year, and their fame will continue. Their great tunes include the massive 21 seconds, they dont know and haters. There is also Ride wid us and oxide and neutrino have an album. Romeo has gone solo to release his brilliant new single, Romeo dunn. 2 Step/Garage in general ... Garage Music started to develop in 1995 although at the time had a number of different names and descriptions, e.g. Speed Garage, London Garage and oddly Sparage! The term Speed Garage became the 'in' term particularly by those who didn't really know much or understand the music. There were a number of club nights in London that promoted the sound of UK Garage such as Release the Pressure, The Loft, and Garage City, playing out the best in UK Garage.
