Advantages: original
Disadvantages: none I can think of
I'm what you would call a late bloomer with 3 Doors Down. I generally liked their music, but to me they were pretty much a mixture of Matchbox 20's attitude and Lifehouse's temperment. The fact of the matter is, you probably won't like them the first few times you listen. You'll probably think they're nothing more than over-played, over-hyped American rock music. And then you really listen. You grab the beautiful ballad "Be Like That" (and please, the ALBUM version, not that warped American Pie 2 edit) and actually LISTEN to it. For most people, that song is what hooks them. Then you find you're belting out the lyrics to the angsty "Loser" in the shower. You're banging out the awesome snare beat to "Kryptonite" on your steering wheel. You're grooving to "Loser" for no reason at all. 3 Doors Down is no copycat band. Unlike many cookie-cutter rock bands to grace the music scene, their music is emotional, powerful, and infused with the sort of energy that gets a wicked slam going at a concert. Their stage presence is absolutely incredible, and if you're lucky enough to be able to find their acoustic remixes floating around somewhere, you're in the money. If you're a fan of little bands with lots of power, you really have to give these guys a try.

ManUtdBoi - 07.10.05 as much as I love 3 Doors Down, I have to disagree when you say they're original, because they're far from it. not that it matters, original or not, they're a great band. Alex |
