Katy_roberts85 Clarinets: ... love the clarinet!! I started learning two years ago, never having played music before and I am now at grade 5 standard. I have weekly lessons and an t get enough of it! (I am an adult learner!) It is quite an odd sensation having the reed and mouthpiece in your mouth but you get used to it quickly. It isn t the easiest of instruments to play as there is a technique to getting the sound out - you can t just bl...

nilo0901 Tom Waits in general
... can imagine alot has been written about Mr Waits. Alot in awe, some in bemusement. He kind of attracts a cult following. Like Marmite, you love him or hate him. I love him and always have but what secured it for me was Tom Waits live. I was privileged to see him live in Paris last year on his European leg of the Glitter and Doom tour and was pleasantly surprised to find not only a great musician and songwriter, but a great entertainer. I had always had it in my head that seeing a grumpy and somewhat pretentious man reluctantly performing on stage when he would rather be locked away in a studio would disappoint me. Well, not so.... Mr Waits entertains in the classic tra...

nilo0901 BB King in general
... you have not heard B.B King live you really must. You don t need to be a blues fan to enjoy B.B King. He was in London a month or so ago and I went with my girlfriend who is most definitely not a blues fan, and she loved it. He s getting on a bit now (about 82 I think...) so hurry. He still tours like he did in his youth. If you can t get to see him, buy one of his electric live albums. Of which I can recommend 2 - one from his early career and his most recent. Firstly, and I would say the best of all, is Live At The Regal recorded in 1964. This is how a live entertainer should be. Mr King has the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. Just hear the shrieking a...

lemonjim Rage Against The Machine in general
... did anyone manage to see then at Reading? If you did then you are so lucky! The first time I heard them I must have been around 13. This powerful rock rap combo combined with heavy riffs and lyrics that pumped you full of adrenaline! I had officially hit puberty and been rushed into a state of anarchy. Ok well not quite but still I had heard the most inflectional and inspiring group of the 90 s. Although splitting up and troubles going on within the group, if you ask around Rage are still as big as ever. I absolutely love them and genuinely think they are un beatable in what they stand for. They rival the work of public enemy with their conspiracy theory s and...
