... my books. Track 7 - Learn to fly We go back to the slower pop style ballad here. This track also is so dull that you could almost fall asleep listening to this one. Not a track that really demands any attention at all from you. Track 8 - Isn't it cheap We come to a more heavier rock style here somewhat similar to INXS so not one that I liked at all. A1 in general ... one of my favourite bands so why not write an opinion on them? A few years ago, another manufactured pop boy band burst onto the seens, singing be the first to beleive, it was A1. Back when they started the cheesy pop songs were flowing and the young girls were screaming to summertime, ready or not and everytime. Since then the boys - Mark, Christian, Paul and Ben have matured and so has there music. Nothing proves this more when you compare Be the first... there first single - very manufactured image and written for them and Caught in the middle - a more band image, they play there own instruments and write the songs themselves. A1 in general ... me rethink my opinion drastically. Starting off in a somewhat understated manner, once the boys hit the chorus this song really soars. This could be this year's Whole Again - a truly heart-stopping and unexpected sublime POP moment. This is real giddying vital stuff and exposes all the dull and impossibly banal karaoke cover versions that we've been exposed to over the last few weeks on Pop Idol for what they really are - embarassing adult oriented candy floss for the ears. A1 have also been seen playing their own instruments - which gives them added credibility. But who cares about authenticity when all we want is ecstatic tunes with huge sing-a-long chorus...
