In 1990, folk musician Ani DiFranco borrowed money from her New York friends and launched Righteous Babe records - an independent label designed for musicians such as herself, songwriters and performers who did not want to get sucked into the giant corporate world of the music industry. The first time I listened to Ani DiFranco was in 1998 I think, driving in my sister's car. We were listening to "untouchable face" - a timeless classic - and as she sang "Tell you the truth I prefer the worst of you, too bad you had to have another half. She's not really my type, but I think you too are forever, and I hate to say it, but you're perfect together. So f*** you, and you're untouchable face, and f*** you for existing in the first place, who am I that I should be vying for your touch, who am I? Ani Difranco is one of the most talented and inspirational artists on the folk music scene and her popularity has only increased over the span of her twenty year career.
