I have just heard the new vesion of the classic Charlie's angels theme by Apollo Four Forty and I think it is a rather decent example of technovamping old theme tunes and puts shame to other attempts such as Orbital's version of The Saint! Apollo have managed to give it a real kick start beat whilst simultaneously maintaining the classic melody that was so famous way back in the seventies. It isn't as good as Apollo's other great theme tune Lost In Space or Stop The Rock but it really is a good anthem for the new millennium. The only good song on an otherwise poor soundtrack. Apollo 440 make reasonably formulaic electronic (I think) music. Samples feature heavily, as do beats, and a number of different styles (ambient, bigbeat etc.) combine to make an entertaining, if uninspiring mix. I wouldn’t recommend buying an album by Apollo 440, as there really isn’t too much in their music to keep you coming back for more. Their tunes are often catchy, and their initial appeal may rival that of far superior songs, but if you’re after complexity, you’re unlikely to find it here. ...
