Aqua in general ... have some tragic news. Aqua have split up. The news was announced this week, and it looks as though we have heard the last from Lene and Rene. The cartoonesque band released only a handful of songs, but musically and visually, they were one of the most instantly recognisable bands ever, thanks to Rene's baldness and Lene's redness... In the 5 or so years that they were around, they managed to become the most successful Danish act ever. Their international success was kickstarted by the infamous 'Barbie Girl'. Aqua in general ... hate to admit it but I quite like Aqua. I find their music happy and cheery pop and if you are down then just put any of their songs on and anyone should be instantly uplifted. When I first heard "Barbie Girl" I did think it was pretty stupid but for some reason I liked it. My favourite song has to be "Doctor Jones" though. I don't know why that is but I like it. Both of those songs are off Aquas first album which is called "Aquarium" My favourite song off their second album which is called "Aquarius" is one that's called "Cartoon Heroes" It is a good song in my opinion. Aqua in general ... Aqua is indeed aimed at kids, but i think they're not very good rolemodels at all. They have an image and attitude that suggest a more adult audience, but they mostly reach very young kids. They have a very sexual stage show, and have been know to be quite, let's freespirtited when it comes to sex, on major tv-stations in norway. It might sound very prejudice and narrowminded, but think about it, isn't likely that there's a connection between these type of bands and the number of teenage pregnancies in the UK? I personly think that each idividual should decide how they want to live their life, but i think aqua, and simelar bands, can be a bad influe... Read the full review: Innocent music? by spiderduel |
