Are Pop Concerts A Rip-Off?

Newest Review: ... really good seat too. If you go out on a big night out, maybe have something to eat, then go out drinking and on to a club with a taxi home, then there are many times when £40 would barely cover that, so paying £40 for a night out of a different kind (going to a pop concert) seems very reasonable. For many people, pop concerts are not something that you go to very often. They are a treat, ... more

Premium Review Are Pop Concerts A Rip-Off?: How much is too much? (390 words)

Whether or not you think pop concerts are over priced really depends on the individual's circumstances, how much money they have to spend and how much they really want to go and see the artist in concert. The price of pop concerts vary a great deal. For example, I went to see Take That on their comeback tour a couple of years ago for £40 which I think is a great price especially seeing as I had a really good seat too. If you go out on a big night out, maybe have something to eat, then go out drinking and on to a club with a taxi home, then there are many times when £40 would barely cover that, so paying £40 for a night out of a different kind (going to a pop ...  Read the complete review

Are Pop Concerts A Rip Off? They Are When Attended by These Sad Assed F**kwits. Whooppers. The whooper. If you go to gigs you’ll know what I’m talking about. Once a rare creature, the whooper was never found outside of a Highland Fling. Accompanied by the skirl of avenging bagpipes, the whoop is usually more associated with drunken whiskey sodden Scotsmen trying to dance round a cross of Claymores laid out on the floor. Very Macho. You might occasionally find a whooper at a line dancing class. Of coarse, there is the monkey version, but they are never seen outside of a jungle and are heading for extinction. Sadly, ...  Read the complete review

I feel that pop concerts are a total rip off. For example, anybody want to see Madonna for £80? No thanks, not me. I'd rather pay £90 and go to the Leeds/Reading festival for a whole weekend. You pop loving morons are so stupid. Why pay upwards of £40 to see some hyped up fool prance around on a stage with a microphone in their hand when it is blatantly obvious that they can't and aren't singing for you rpleasure. Instead, they are miming for your money. I can see why that is such a good deal. Nice one! :) Listen to rock music. It's cheaper. :):):):):) ...  Read the complete review

I have been to a few gigs in my life from local bands that I have friends in to some big names such as Tina Turner and Phil Collins. These have all cost me a range of prices some of which I can’t believe I paid so much and some were a bargain. The last concert I went to was at my local pub that has live bands, The Army and Navy in Chelmsford, Essex. It cost me £4 to get and I saw two local bands for that. Now I think that is reasonable I had to pay my bus fare as well to get there and that totalled to £7, which I can afford. I went to two concerts in January however. First I saw my favourite band Incubus. I have seen them twice, once in Brixton ...  Read the complete review

It's disgusting the amount promoters will charge for concert tickets. Despite what people say, there is little difference between major stars like Elton John and Madonna to so-called "indie" bands like Travis and the Stereophonics charging exorbetent prices for a performance lasting between one and two hours. Three years ago I went to see Travis at a student union and for a tenner we were treated to an intimate, energetic and sweaty performance which left the majority of the audience content. Just before Xmas I had the misfortune of seeing Travis at Newcastle City Hall. An all-seater type theatre, we were forced to stand ...  Read the complete review
