Advantages: Some concerts are cheaper than a good night out at pubs and clubs

Disadvantages: Some you need to save up for

Whether or not you think pop concerts are over priced really depends on the individual's circumstances, how much money they have to spend and how much they really want to go and see the artist in concert.

The price of pop concerts vary a great deal. For example, I went to see Take That on their comeback tour a couple of years ago for £40 which I think is a great price especially seeing as I had a really good seat too. If you go out on a big night out, maybe have something to eat, then go out drinking and on to a club with a taxi home, then there are many times when £40 would barely cover that, so paying £40 for a night out of a different kind (going to a pop concert) seems very reasonable.

For many people, pop concerts are not something that you go to very often. They are a treat, a night out to look forward to, so it is often expected that they will be quite expensive, but because it is a one off chance to see your idol in concert many people don't mind paying quite a bit of money if they can afford it.

I recently paid £120 to go and see Kylie Minogue for a block A seat at the O2. Although I don't have a lot of money to spend, I do not go out drinking and do not spend a lot of money on other things so I save it up for the things I want to do such as going to see my favourite stars. I bought the ticket from Ebay but I know that the face value of the tickets were £49, so I did pay more than double what it was worth. The Kylie tickets were set at £49 which again I think is a great price, as you would spend around that price (often more) to see a West End show.

For me, I still didn't mind paying £120 as all the tickets had been sold from the ticket sellers and it was the only way I could get to see Kylie. Yes, the Ebay seller was making quite a bit of money but the seats were fantastic and I had an amazing night so I felt it was money well spent.

Summary: One person's view of good value is another person's idea of expensive

They are rip offs yes!
But I guess for some people it's worth it, if they worship an artist or such. I've been guilty of spending FAR too much on certain acts myself.... Interesting review.

There is no way I would pay £120 for a £49 ticket. Robbery!

Some are worth it but I view them as a whole day/night out so once in a while don't mind paying x
