Basement Jaxx exploded onto the music scene last year with their hit album Remedy. Emerging from the underground, garage house scene in London, they amazed the world with their no-holds-barred approach to modern house and hip-hop. Their music is extremely well-made and tight: something you can't really say about many music groups right now. Basement Jaxx is comprised of duo mix-masters Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe. Although in reality they look like just another pair of pasty, British guys (hehe), under that soft, white interior lies a highly developed sensibility on groove and funk. They are completely vicious in their mixing and ... Read the complete review

Basement Jaxx have made a really refreshing album. It's a fine collection of house tunes which are best for a summer barbeque and piss-up (or so me and my mates have found - "red alert, it's a catastrophe", somebody stubbed out a cigarette on the living room carpet). Best tunes are Rendez-Vu and Red Alert, but there are a number of interludes which are really cool(especially the jazzalude). This band are probably best seen live, I saw them at Glasto 99, but the album is really pumping, uplifting and just makes you want to move those dancing feet. Party on, and get down with the Jaxx. ... Read the complete review

I don't think this opinion will be too populer because I know alot of people realy rate this CD but I dont! I bought it as soon as it came out on the strengh of the funky single 'Red Alert' and the great reviews it was getting in the press. I was very dissapointed, 'Rendez-vu' and 'Bingo Bango' were the only other good tracks, the others go from bland to awful, with anoying interludes seperating them. 3 good track dont make a great album I dont think, but like I said alot of people do like this so give it a try but listen before you buy, I have warned you. ... When I first heard this group, I couldn't stand them. Then, something which I can't put my finger on changed my opinion. I'm not sure what category to put this music into which can only be a good thing. There is so much variation on this album from energetic dance tracks such as the popular Red Alert down to mellower tracks such as Rendez-Vous. I find the album so infectious that I just have to keep playing it......preferably as loud as possible. If you remotely like anything by Basement Jaxx I strongly recommend you own this album. It's one of the most refreshing albums I've heard in years, probably because it's diverse ... Read the complete review

I am a great fan of Basement Jaxx. Their unique brand of club-type music is innovative and complex, unlike so many of its bedfellows. I can picture a great deal of people shunning Basement Jaxx (as I initially did) for their seeming simplicity, but this I believe would be a mistake. Songs like Red Alert and Bingo Bango aren’t meant to be pondered over and analysed – they’re meant to be enjoyed, at a base sort of dancing about level. And enjoy them I do, as should you. Finely crafted dance. ... Read the complete review
