The Beach Boy's formed in 1961, they were forever associated with sun and surf in their earlier hits, but when they outgrew this phase they found it hard to escape from. Their first hit single was Surfin Safari in 1962, they went on to have many more hits including Would'nt It Be Nice, Fun Fun Fun,Good Vibrations, God Only Knows and many more. One of the group Brian Wilson was hooked on cocaine and heroin, and in the late 70's tried to commit suicide by drowning, but was saved by his brother Dennis Wilson who was also hooked on drink and drugs he died by drowning in Calefornia in 1983. Their other brother Carl Wilson died in 1998 from cancer. This left the ... Read the complete review

The Beach Boys were one of the biggest bands of the 60's. 'Original Gold' contains nearly all of their greatest hits on a magnificent 2 compact disc compilation. If you have heard any of the Beach Boys songs and liked them then I strongly recommend you buying this album because when I bought this album I hadn't heard half of the songs but now I love them all. My top five songs from this album are: 'Good Vibrations' 'Surfin USA' 'I Get Around' 'California Dreamin' 'Cotton Fields' ... Read the complete review

No, not unless they have taken the time to dig out some of the rarer songs, that until recently were only available on the collectors market. Most people are familiar with "surfin' safari" and "california girls" or any of their cars and girls pop songs. Most people will count "pet sounds" as a classic pop album, even if they think it sounds a little twee by today's standards. What most people don't hear, is the fantastic ... Read the complete review

obviously people think that the beach boys were americas come back from the beatles and they might well have been but they still were able to a well deserved immortal legend of them selves. Hits like surfin U.S.A and surfin safari also i get around took them ot there popularity and are still played by the new generations (i'm living prof). Although the beach boys did sing alot about surfing in on the waves of example catch a wave would lead you to beleive that they could surf but all of them were un-able to!!!! the beach boys had a wide range of music style it range from soft eg god only knows to the more 'lads' songs like babara ann which was a ... The Beach Boys should be given even more credit than they already are, as they are way up there with the Beatles! Paul McCartney even claims that the 'Pet Sounds' album influenced 'Sgt.Pepper'. They produced upbeat music with unique harmonies, and had their own individual surfer image. People remember them for their music and associate them with surfing and as having fun. They had a real charm and innocence about them, and the emphasis lay more on their music than it does in the music world today, where pop stars are known better for their personal lives. The Beach Boys created fun music which was, and still is, great to listen to ... Read the complete review
