This is a review of the George Martin album ?In My Life? ? a tribute of sorts to the Beatles, featuring an all-star cast. The history of these ?tribute? albums doesn?t bode well for this album. However, this is Beatles songs, and the chances of them being robbed of their soul in the hands of the ?fifth? Beatle (no, not George Best, Stuart Sutcliffe or Brian Epstein but George Martin) is slim. Upon looking at the sleeve, you would be forgiven even more for that feeling of trepidation. After all, people like Robin Williams, Goldie Hawn and Jim Carrey aren?t best known for their musical talent. But leave all your doubts at the door. From opener Come ... Read the complete review

Well, as always there is some people who would say that The beatles were over rated, and quite right they are too there opinion, I have been looking at some web sites dedicated to 'the most over rated band in history' and I have a few things to say. First of all, just like a lot of dooyoo opinions there was actually no basis for there arguement, I think that some people just decided to hate something, or when something is really popular they decide to hate it. I am no physiciatrist but I would say that these people are just attention seekers, or people who refuse to go along with the crowd, even if deep inside of them they actually like ... The Beatles……..What about those Haircuts!! I remember well the rise of The Beatles in the sixties. I was still at primary school when the four Liverpool lads hit the charts with “She loves you Yeah, Yeah,Yeah”. I hated that damn song and never really took to these four guys who were taking the pop world by storm with their new image of smart suits and that Beatle haircut. And those Beatle boots they wore, I remember wearing a pair to school with the long toe, looking back they were a terrible style. The next hit “ Twist and Shout” also hit the top spot and The Beatles were well and truly on their way to fame ... Read the complete review

I have a slight feeling that I might be about to make some enemies. I have never been a Beatles fan, but that has only by expounded by the fact that I am currently studying in Liverpool, and everywhere you turn, there is someone ramming down your throat exactly how "fab" these four really were. Well, in my opinion, it's time for much of Britain to wake up. Let's be perfectly honest here - the Beatles are not Gods. They are not the greatest men ever to walk the Earth. They are not the greatest band in history. Firstly, I am going to say that, despite that opening paragraph, I do have a lot of respect for the Beatles, and what they ... Read the complete review

Everyone knows how much the Beatles progressed, from a teeny pop band with a talent for a catchy melody through to a complex, often experimental band still with a talent for a catchy melody. From boy-band to psychedelic kings. But what we often forget is that this was all done in less time than it takes some bands to record a single album. A mere 8 years passed between their first hit, Love Me Do, and their split up. So how exactly did this progression reveal itself? 1963's Please Please Me was probably the simplest of all the Beatles albums. It kicks off with one of the best album openers ever. 1-2-3-4!!! and into I Saw Her Standing There. Showing ... Read the complete review
