Advantages: Great songs and a great atmosphere
Disadvantages: So many good songs they might not do your favourite
As I have said in other opinions I am an unabashed fan of The Beautiful South, and would therefore take the opportunity to encourage you to go and see them live. I have been lucky enough to see them live (Wembley Arena in November 1995) and would say it was one of the best value for money nights I have ever had. The music is still top quality - there is no drop off in performance just because they are performing live. There is also great interaction between lead singer Paul Heaton and the surrounding audience. The best tracks to see live are "Pretenders to the Throne" (Heaton's look upon singing "and Hull with its musical flair" is quite a site), "Good as Gold (Stupid as Mud)" and "You Keep it all in" (my favourite as the crowd sings the word "in" with some style!). Jacqueline Abbott wasn't there that night (due to the impending birth of her child) but the guys filled in for any parts she needed to and did a very good job. It didn't even seem at all weird. All in all it is a good fun night with great entertainment, and you'll normally get a pretty decent support band too.

- 25/01/01 Good op. However, now the lovely Ms Abbot has left, whats going to happen? Are they going to go for female vocalist no.3, or say 'stuff it' and Carry on Regardless? |
