... because he is capable of doing loads of different things. It was when I saw him in concert that I completely went off him. He acted like a star. Like he was the god and the whole audience were at his feet. Sure, Beck is Beck, and he is well known, but he's still only Beck. He made no effort whatsoever to have fun on stage, do something original with his music, smile. A bigheaded bastard. That's what I thought. And when meeting him after the concert and having him act even worse (he might as well have spat i...more

Premium Review Beck in general: Who is Beck? (394 words)

Beck has been a role model for many young musiciens starting out in an underground environment. His album "One foot in the Grave" considered to be the most inspirational album. Low-fy, folk, simple, with his unique voice. This guy was a role model because he didn't beleive in commercial music. He didn't beleive in doing music for money. He simply beleived in his music. With all the answers, and all his albums infront of me, I wonder what made the big change. All his albums have been great in one way or another. Surprising all his fans when releasing Mutations. Odelay, in my opinion Beck’s greatest accomplishment to date, is an album that everybody should own. His other albums are also well worthy of praise, but perhaps will appeal to fewer people. With Odelay, and to a slightly lesser extent his other albums, Beck Hansen proves that he is funny, talented, and immensely cool. His frequent pastiches of musical styles are pulled off brilliantly, because he has the skill to perform in that style without his tongue in his cheek. As a result, his music is highly eclectic, highly funny, and highly accomplished. The iconic Beck is one of the best American artists of the 90s. ...
