Beck is the most great artist of our times.
You may find this a wild claim, but please with-hold this initial emotional response and listen to the truth.
The roughly recorded Mellow Gold was the first Beck album I owned. I over played it to myself. I grew stranger. This album is absolutely splendid. Every track is loaded with twistedness, greatbeatedness and unwholesome jerkishness.
Odelay, and the rest were all almost equally great, but nothing will ever be as good as the master himself live.
From 'One Foot In The Grave' to 'Nicotine and Gravy', the stage action is perfectly controlled by Beck.
The end of the show is always a very memorable experience, for instance the end of his Reading festival performance this year where he wrapped up the crew and cameramen ("and the band playin down below" - Beck - 'Satan Gave Me A Taco')
and did the skateboard dance all over the stage.
