Advantages: Catchy, sing-along, hum-along, dance-along songs.
Disadvantages: none
If you want a great feel good song to get the night started, put on something by The Bee Gees. It's bound to get your feet tapping and the crowd clapping! This music is designed to strut and dance to so grab your nearest hair brush, get the lyrics and sing along to the likes of "Staying Alive" ah ah ah ah-nd many more!
Fab-Fact:
Did you know that the pulse of The Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" (which incidentally I'm listening to now) is the pulse that you should do CPR to. So if you ever need to... just plug in your MP3 or Ipod and keep someone alive - it's what Daniel Craig should have done in Casino Royale when he tries to save Vesper!
This group produced a range of unusual sounds from their high male falsetto voices, making it easier for us ladies to join in! Just another plus about this influential group.
They have also proved to be versatile with their track "Islands in the Stream" - that was also done by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, I think.
Just another great thing about them:
Now it's been about 30 years since they were first on the scene and they're even cooler than they were at the time, because now they're "Retro-cool" so it's OK to strut down your town centre singing "Night Fever".
Another Fab Fact:
Steps had hits with two of their songs:
Tragedy - (Yes we all know the dance routine!)
Chain Reaction
Actually...
I recently went to a disco where someone was doing the night-fever moves with much conviction, so the 70's must be on the return! (Oh dear!)
Anyway...
From a musical point of view their songs are really catchy and an inspiration to song writers and composers world wide, so all the more reason to expand your musical awareness and knowledge, and listen or hum along.
Final Fab Fact:
Their songs have been used not only in, but as the title for the musical "Night Fever" so they must be good as the title is generally what attracts you to go and see something.
A great band that have got to be truly timeless (even though they are very 70's??!!).
Summary: A great part of Brittish popular music
