We weren't very nice to Billie when she first showed herself. I think we were harsh ("she looks like a hamster!") but fair (have you ever listened to 'Because We Want To' or 'Boyfriend' all the way through? - then let's say no more about it).

Now, and I say this behind blushes, I am rather fond of her. The Chris Evans stunt may have been a bit of a mistake but she's still young so no black marks. She has managed to transform herself from naff child star into gay icon and pop queen, which can't be easy. I think it helps (a lot) that she's a very good dancer, and has all the turns and pouts just right, but she's actually got a bit of a voice on her too. Her songs are hardly ground-breaking experiments, but they're catchy and happy without resorting to the mindless la-la-la-ness of Steps.

Still, I am basing this on her singles alone, and suspect a whole album of Miss Piper might be a bit much (however forgiving I might be I would NOT be seen purchasing her album, even with a gun to my back). I just think she has handled the media extremely well and desrves credit for it, or at least for choosing a talented PR person.
