Give 'Walk of Life' a go! You might just like it! (Billie Piper in general)

Being an avid music fan, it's surprising how hard it is to write about one of your favourite subjects. (No, not Billie...music!!!) Anyway, I'll try my best and if it's awful you can kindly ask me not to bother next time!

I'm choosing to write about Billie as I've become quite attached to her new album, 'Walk of Life.' I always take it with me on my way to work and it's perfect for chilling out to on the way home.

I want to stress that I am not a Billie fan and I never have been! She represents everything about the music industry that I hate! She has an annoying, whiny voice when she gives interviews, she pulls ridiculous publicity stunts (Chris Evans ring any bells?) and she appears to be totally manufactured! However, saying all that, I do think that her new album is particularly good! It is a huge step away from her original, squeaky clean sound, and is much easier to take seriously! Her 'sound' (as they like to call it!) has definitely matured and, having surprisingly written several of the tracks on the album herself, she does deserve some credit.

There are only 12 tracks on the album (not great, I know) but I would say that about eight of them are worth a listen. She has not left the ridiculous lyrics of her first songs behind (track six boasts "The way he rings my bell, I can always tell who is at my door," I mean come on!) but she has tried. Some even have some depth to them ("Because of you, the woman in me is setting me free" Oooh!) I don't sound very convincing do I?!?! I am trying!

The first two singles from the album ('Day & Night' and 'Something Deep Inside') are probably her best, but there are others which deserve a mention. 'Ring My Bell' (as stupid as it sounds) is actually quite good and 'The Tide Is High' is probably the best track on there. Some of the slower tracks are good too, but they can't beat her new, vam
ped up style!

If you totally hate Billie, and aren't really willing to change your opinion of her, then I wouldn't bother listening to this. But, if you want to try something new, then give 'Walk Of Life' a go!
