Bjork seems to be one of those artists you either hate or love- you can't just sit on the fence! For example, several years ago she described herself as a 'gratious grapefruit' at the Brits. She thrives on being the odd one out- and I think she'd hate to 'fit the mould' Her musical style is pretty unique- with her almost dischordent vocals- and her Icelandic accent. Her tracks range from purely vocal- to 'big' sounding orchestral tracks- and then they range almost into dance- with use of sampling occasionally finding its way in. Her first album, 'Debut', was released in 1993. It was, in my opinion, ... Read the complete review

BJORK - "Selma Songs" Release 18 September 2000 (One Little Indian) "Selma Songs" is the official soundtrack to "Dancer In The Dark", in which Bjork plays the lead role of Selma. The soundtrack is totally different to Bjork's previous work and represents a leap into new terrority. Things start with the overture, which sweeps in a Jurassic Park kind of a way, with a full orchestra building crescendos in a Spielberg-blockbuster fashion. "Selma Songs" then leads into "Cvalda", a fusion of industrial beats and enchanting percussion that turns into an explosive chrorus featuring short ... Read the complete review

Here in America, Bjork is one of the more noteable musicians. Her music spans several different venues from new age to techno and house. In California, Los Angeles area, Bjork is an Icon in the clubbing scene as well as on the Sunset Strip and is a big box office puller and attraction. In the club and underground scenes, her music touches the youth in a way that they can express themselves both visually and emotionally. Her opening debut the clubs here in the U.S.,which gave her creditability, was the song HyperBallad - Maxi remix, the rest is history. Now in Los Angeles when a new single or new album hits the market it is played over the radio stations till most are ... Read the complete review

Even though I don't own any Bjork albums, I believe I'm qualified to atleast write a little something about Bjork as I have a compilation tape of hers, and have obviously heard her on TV and radio. Unlike Bjork, I find that most female singers and girl bands all sell on sex and imagery, the only exceptions being bands like Hole, and I find that a shame as there undoubtedly are loads of great female artists out there and we get served the ones who record companies think have the most sex appeal, how annoying is that? Okay, I think girls should and look good by flauting their sexuality, but we know they're not one dimensional. I'm sick of hearing ... Read the complete review

Bjork is a very weird pop star indeed. In fact, I think she and Michael Jackson would make a perfect couple! They should get togethre as the two weirdoes of pop! Anyway, Bjork has brought out loads of singles over the years such as "It's Oh So Quiet", whihc goes quiet, then noisy, the quiet, then noisy etc., and drives you insane! She has realeased a few albums which have done OK, but on the whole apart from the aforementioned single, she has never really made it big here in the UK. I think we're just TOO conservative to cope with Bjork! ... Read the complete review
