Advantages: The sound, the vocals, and songwriting

Disadvantages: That there are only 2 albums

Blind Melon are an awesome band. In my opinion they have also been drastically under-rated. I never heard of them until I was in my 20s for example!

The lead singer's voice is brilliant - so strong and yet fragile, with a slight quaver and always heaps of passion. His song writing is really amazing too - often dealing with quite dark subject matter in a very stark but beautiful way.

The band has had a number of album releases but still seem to have only a relatively small (though passionate) following. The band's sound ranges from relatively slow, intimate acoustic guitar and vocals to being quite rocky.

My favourite tracks are probably from the Nico album. I definitely recommend it to listeners of alternative music out there. Check out the track 'Toes Across the Floor'.

The band was tragically brought to a close with the death of the lead singer, Nick Shannon. They've apparently re-formed with a new singer but I'm not sure I would like that - the best thing about the band was the vocals.

Summary: Check them out.
