Blink 182 seem to be one of the more popular punk bands but as mentioned in other opinions, are they really punk ?

Over the years music has completely changed. There used to be alot of underground non-popularised music, such as pink floyd but now a band is only really a band in the publics eye if they are big.

Any festival you go to, there is advertising everywhere. Alot of the older generation find this disturbing but then the younger generation dont care as long as they have their favourite band on stage.

Blink 182 have some intrsting material and they arnt a bad band, but they took the wrong route in music, they had the oppotunity to either:

1) go the commercial way, become popular, make loads of money.

or

2) stay underground and keep respect with there many fans but not be well herd of. They ofcourse took the famous route and lost alot of support because of this.

This also brings me to another point that i think all bands will take this route because at the end of the day they want to be famous and make money. So festivals are going to lose their identities. There are still some festivals though which keep all advertising out, but because of the money needed to get in the bands that people want to see there is never the best of turnouts.
